About yushima-tenmangu

Yushima Tenmangu enshrines Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning, affectionately known as “Yushima Tenjin.” Students from across Japan visit during exam season to offer ema (wooden plaques) for success in their studies. The shrine is also admired for its plum blossoms that bloom in early spring.
